Bud Abbott in cartoon form
William Alexander "Bud" Abbott (2 October 1897 – 24 April 1974) was an American actor and comedian. He is best known as the serious half of the Abbott and Costello comedy duo. He voiced an animated version of himself in Hanna-Barbera's Abbott and Costello shorts.
Trivia[]
- At Lou Costello's insistence, the monies earned from their comedy act were split 60/40, favoring Abbott. Costello's reasoning was, "Comics are a dime a dozen. Good straight men are hard to find."
- Abbott appeared as a special guest, not a panelist, in an episode of the NBC daytime game show It Takes Two, hosted by Vin Scully in 1969 or 1970, reminiscing about his career with Lou Costello.
