Captain Ortega is a minor character from Snorks.

He only appeared during the Season 1 opening sequence in a flashback. A modern sailor had found his log book in an old monastery, and decided to read it. He narrated the chain of events in the journal.
In 1634, Ortega's ship had been quickly set ablaze by pirates, and sunk. When he was found washed up on the shore in a delirious state, he claimed to have seen the Snorks, describing them as being no bigger than his thumb. No one believed his fantastic story, but the sailor was convinced it was true.
He and the sailor who found his log book are the only human characters ever seen during the show's run.
