Chupacabra (Monster of Mexico)

Chupacabra appears in Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico. It was the disguise of the museum guide, who was actually Charlene. She used this and the museum guide disguise to help get the Oteros' land for her boyfriend's newest tourist attraction.

Description[]

The Chupacabra resembled a huge gorilla beast with purple fur, glowing green eyes, an upright posture, and sharp fangs. It had large claws on its hands, which it often used to abduct people. The museum guide wore stlits to cover the huge size.

History[]

The beast first appeared at the plaza, where it nearly captured Alejo Otero's son and his dog, Chiquita, but they were saved by Alejo himself. It later spooked Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo when they were trying to sleep, but it was scared away when more people came.

The gang finally met it in the forest, where it chased them, and they managed to lose it. It last appeared in the graveyard, at the day of the dead, where it was unmasked as the museum guide, then as Charlene.

Trivia[]

  • In the trailer, Shaggy asked what "Chupacabra" means in English, but the translation wasn't revealed in the movie. The word means "goat sucker" (it kills not only sheep and goats, but also chickens).
  • Instead of using a reptilian or canine version of the Chupacabra, the animators made this version like Bigfoot.
  • During the film, most children say it looks like a gorilla, a bear, or an alien.
  • It's possible that Mr. Smiley briefly dressed up as the monster to fake an abduction of his girlfriend, Charlene.
