He is very fond of hamburgers. He often says to Popeye, or to anyone in particular, "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
In Hanna-Barbera Popeye media, he was voiced by Daws Butler, or occasionally Allan Melvin, in imitation of W.C. Fields.
