Lokar is a character in Space Ghost and the comical spin-off Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
About Lokar[]
He is a lime-green locust alien with yellow-green wings. The wings were changed to sky blue in Space Ghost Coast to Coast. His beak has fangs. He wears either a dark green or turquoise leotard with a black belt. He wears long black bands on his arms and legs.
In Space Ghost, he commanded an army of robotic locusts. He was crushed by one of his creations. The character spoke in a vague Scandinavian accent. (Space Ghost: "Lokar - King of the Killer Locusts")
In Space Ghost Coast to Coast, he is a cultured and snobbish locust who has an ongoing rivalry with Zorak. He has a British accent and rolls his Rs when he speaks. Lokar also became a member of the Council of Doom to replace Zorak.
Lokar appears alongside the other Council of Doom members as panelists.
He once took over hosting duties when Space Ghost had to visit his mom in Central Florida. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Le Livre D' Histoire").
Lokar once try to get Moltar to be a director on his talk show Insects Aside though he ends up getting blasted by Space Ghost due to insulting his mother. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Explode").
Lokar once disguised himself as Space Ghost in order to take over his show. It ended up fooling nobody due to his short stature and bad acting. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Switcheroo").
Lokar was a theme planner for Space Ghost's birthday party. He and Moltar agreed to a 1950s-themed party. Lokar wanted to do role playing for Space Ghost and the guests. He wanted to play Reggie, a biker while suggesting Moltar should play Molly, his girlfriend. Lokar also appeared in a wanted poster. When Space Ghost wanted to blast the drapes the Council of Doom were hiding behind, Lokar tried to convince him not to blast them by pretending to be the drapes. It didn't work and Space Ghost ended up blasting the Council of Doom. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Surprise").
As part of a running gag, Lokar is one of three characters who announced to Space Ghost that he was pregnant. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Jacksonville").
Lokar presented the original pilot titled "Birdman Coast to Coast". It is revealed that Lokar was the original bandleader (or musical arranger as he prefer) for the talk show. He was mauled by Avenger after insulting Harvey Birdman too many times. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Pilot").
Zorak's nephew Raymond said Lokar would have still been the bandleader if Zorak was never born. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Zorak").
Lokar was disappointed when he didn't get to sing or have any lines in the Space Ghost musical. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Boatshow")
Lokar once asked Moltar if he have some "dangerously sequined" hot pants and scented thongs. Moltar said he only has scented underwear to which Lokar was happy to buy. (Space Ghost Coast to Coast: "Waiting for Edward").
The character disappeared after the SGC2C season five finale, although he would continue to contribute in-character reviews and appear in prose stories on the official website up until 2000 and continued to appear in comic stories as late as 2003. While the reason for his disappearance was unexplained in the series; an in-character audio commentary for the episode Surprise revealed Lokar died at some point. However, this was later contradicted when Lokar returned in the GameTap episode Stephen, where he is alive and well.
In Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Lokar is heavily implied to be gay as he has referred to Moltar and Zorak as lover. He has referred to himself as a confirmed bachelor and has hobbies that are stereotypically associated with gay men such as shopping for antiques. The only confirmation of his sexuality was in audio commentaries for the Space Ghost Coast to Coast Volume Two DVD. The European Spanish adaptation portrayed Lokar as being more openly gay.
Lokar has a cameo appearance in Jellystone!
Lokar appears in the Dynamite Entertainment comic. In the comic, Lokar is portrayed as a deity worshipped by Zorak. He is referred as the "Locust of the Apocalypse".
