Mr. Slate is a character in The Flintstones.
About Mr. Slate[]
He is Fred's hot-tempered boss at the stone quarry. Though he is friends with Fred and Barney, he is often not impressed with Fred's antics at the quarry, and has fired him on many occasions, only to give him his job back at the end. Mr. Slate is married to Mrs. Slate.
His appearance was constantly changing. In early episodes, he was like a prehistoric version of Mr. Spacely from The Jetsons. Later, he began wearing his trademark glasses and blue business suit. In some episodes, he wears a tan suit and red tie. In "Moonlight and Maintenance", he sported a tuft of dark hair, despite being bald the rest of the time. He's also gone by the names of Mr. Rockhead and Mr. J.J. Granite. There was also a boss with white hair in the episode "The Tycoon", whose name was Mr. Boulder. His live-action appearance almost resemble his earlier appearance and instead of a necktie, he wears a red bow tie and his large sleeveless shirt has a collar with six gold parallel buttons in each sides.
In the live-action adaptation, he also amused Fred's intellect when he sees Cliff Vanderfleet's petrified state after being drenched by a cement, leading his decision to end the Stone Age and to use concretes. But his higher position offer was turned down by Fred and instead giving his old job back.
In the 1994 live-action film, he was played by Dann Florek.
