Sky Raiders of the Desert

Sky Raiders of the Desert is the sixth episode of Arabian Knights. It first aired 12 October 1968 on NBC.

Summary

In the desert at night, a group of thieves on flying horses called the Sky Raiders notice tents below them and descend to take whatever is valuable. In one of the tents, all they see is the Arabian Knights sleeping; in the other tent is Zazuum. Trying to throw him out, they pull on his tail, causing him to wake up and go berserk. The noise wakes the Knights, who see one of them kidnap Princess Nida. Fariik says a magic word, "Rosan Kobar" and summons flying pillows to take them to the Raiders fortress.

At the fortress, the Raiders' leader Amit Kabul congratulates his men, until Nida attacks one of the big oafish apes. This interests Kabul because he now knows he might get a good price if he gives her to Bakaar's slave auction. Nida says that her friends will come and save her, but Kabul says, "You are wrong, the way to my fortress is a deadly one. No one has ever survived it." Meanwhile, the rest of the Knights, nearly at the fortress, enter a cave. Giant bats attack by spinning Raseem, so Prince Turhan grabs a branch and leads the bat head first into a tree stump, then recalls his flying comfort. One of the bats spun and tore up Fariik's pillow, causing the magician to fall and land on Zazuum. When more bats showed up, Fariik unintentionally pulled Zazuum's tail, which made him lose control but threw the bats right back into the darkness. Afterwards, they resumed onward to the fortress for Nida.

Outside of the fortress while a few Raiders went with there horses to rob more people, Raseem decided to use his strength to make a way in but the prince warned him that the noise while alert the sentry so Fariik said another magic word “Rosan Corkapopus” to plug up his ears, with no trouble anymore the strongman punch the passage and the Knights went in, but not before Fariik un-plugged the sentry’s ears. Inside Kabul was about to send the princess to Bakaar until at the top of his stairs the Knights arrived and Kabul commanded his men to raise their swords. Turhan went first by sliding down and kicking a gong at one of the Raiders, Bez went next, said a transformation phrase “Size of a Hippopotamus” morphed into one and used his weigh to crush more of Kabul’s men then de-transformed back into human form. The Knights went back up the stairs evading arrows in the process. Kabul ordered his men to search the fortress for them, while the Raiders searched they came across an old woman and asked her where the Knights went, she pointed to the other direction so they went there until they realized they don’t have old women in the fortress and went after her, until they came across an old man and asked him where the old woman that deceived them went and he pointed them to the other direction, after they left the old man pulled off his disguise and was revealed to be Nida playing them for fools. With the Raiders running in circles they witnessed their treasure room along with the stolen fortune and decided to use these as a trap.

Kabul was angered at his Raiders for losing them until Turhan showed up and rolled a large rug on them for a thousand headaches, now that they are even more angered he ran towards the others where Raseem spotted them and signalled Bez, he said another transformation phrase “Size of an Ape” and morphed into one, while Nida reminded Fariik with the rest he reassured the princess of the secret weapon and said “Even though Zazuum knows nothing about it” revealing that he tied a knot to his tail. The Raiders chased Turhan into the treasure room into he was cornered, where the beast took his hand and swing to the other side so the prince can alert Fariik, he pulled the donkey’s tail to unleash his power and he spun around throwing vases at the Raiders, shoving them in and tying them up Bez then de-transformed back into human form. They then exited out of the fortress taking both the fortune to the rightful owners and Kabul and the Raiders to the jailers, with him declaring vengeance on them, they laughed at his futile efforts.

Trivia

• This is the first episode not to feature Vangore and Bakaar.

Goofs

• When one of the Raiders told the other to search the tent Zazuum was in, the bandana on his head was light brown and another Raider’s shirt was blue and mask were moss green. It occurred again when they were in the fortress and Nida’s clothes and sleeves were purple and dark pink. Again when Nida pointed to where the Knights are. It happened again when some went out of the fortress. Another one had mixed clothes when they were fooled by Nida’s disguises. Once more when two of them were about to be knocked out by vases.
• When the Knights saw the Raiders, Turhan’s inner sleeve turned red. It happened again after the bats were defeated. Once more after they’ve exited the fortress.
• When Nida tried to free herself from one of the Raider’s a piece of her shirt vanished twice.
• Before Nida pushed one of Kabul’s men in a vase and when she told Kabul the Knights will save her, her inner sleeve turned dark pink.
• Before they encountered the Giant Bats Fariik’s sandals became shoes.
• Bez’s hair was gone when he showed Turhan the Giant Bats.
• During the cave battle some of the bats didn’t have green pupils.
• After Turhan let go of the branch his top collar was red.
• After landing on Zazuum there was an extra strap on Fariik’s sandal.
• Before Fariik unintentionally pulled Zazuum’s tail, the centre part of his shirt was gone. It happened again when the Knights flew out of the fortress.
• When Raseem was about to punch the Raiders passageway the dark red strip on his vest wasn't there.
• When the Knights were leaving the cavern Fariik was back on his own pillow, despite the fact his was torn to pieces, forcing him to share with Zazuum.
• Before Fariik was about to plug up the sentry’s ears a piece of his chin phased into a rock and the middle part of his shirt was gone.
• When they went into the fortress, Bez’s beard grew a bit across his face. A part of Fariik’s cape was also red.
• When Kabul asked Nida where the Knights were, the inner sleeve on his vest turned black. It happened again when he told his men to search the fortress for the Knights and a piece of his vest turned blue. His inner sleeve disappeared once more for a while before he and his men went after Turhan. Again when he declared revenge on the Knights.
• When Raseem showed the others the Raiders stolen valuables his necklace, earring and bracelet was a little darker.
• After they’ve evaded the Raiders Zazuum’s fur on his stomach wasn't there.
• When Fariik purposely pulled Zazuum’s tail, one of his back legs faded for a while.
• When Kabul was in a vase his vest turned blue until he vowed vengeance on the Knights.
