Star Fairies is a half-hour animated special produced by Hanna-Barbera. It first aired in syndication in 1985 and was based on the doll toy collection manufactured by Tonka.
Summary[]
Sparkle, the fairy princess who rules the Land of WishComeTrue high above the clouds, grants many wishes to children around the world who wish upon a star. But she has lately been overwhelmed by the increasing number of wishes being made. So she asks for help from the Wishing Well, who instructs her to go to Mount Wishmore and wish at a shooting star. She does so and receives five new star fairy helpers, Spice, Whisper, Night Song, True Love and Jazz. Princess Sparkle sends them to Earth with her winged unicorn, Lavender, carrying them to make children's wishes come true. Further on, the star fairies meet a very bored young girl named Hillary who cannot think of a wish to make her happy. When Hillary and the fairies return to Castle WishStar, they free Sparkle from a pile of vines but discover that her magic wand has been stolen by a group of short, hairy elves, led by Bungle Boss, who have also made off with the Wishing Well. They go on a long journey to foil the elves and retrieve Sparkle's wand, and their adventure soon makes Hillary happy at last.
