The Superfriends comic book series was a series of comic books published by DC Comics, and based on the SuperFriends franchise. It ran from 1976 to 1981.
The premiere issue had Wendy Harris, Marvin White, and Wonder Dog meeting the entire Justice League, including superheroes who never appeared in any iteration of Superfriends, such as Black Canary, Batgirl, and Red Tornado. They helped defeat villains who were absent from the animated series, such as Menagerie Man and Grax.
Later, there was a backstory about how the Junior Superfriends were replaced by the Wonder Twins and Gleek. This included a story arc about the Superfriends' efforts to deactivate bombs that Grax had planted all over the world. For this, they sought help from the Global Guardians, an international team of superheroes consisting of Jack O'Lantern from Ireland, Seraph from Israel, Little Mermaid from Denmark, and others.
All the bombs were rendered harmless, and Wendy and Marvin left for college shortly after, with Wonder Dog presumably accompanying Marvin. The last issue was published in 1981, by which time El Dorado first appeared in the animated series.
