Swap Plot Flop is the fourth episode of Josie and the Pussy Cats. It first aired on October 3, 1970 on CBS.
Summary[]
The Pussycats are presented a chance to play before royalty in a desert kingdom. The royals, however, are only interested in Valerie Brown because she looks almost identical to their beautiful Princess Milwila, who has been kidnapped by the Evil Eye.
Valerie accepts the offer to help and takes her place until she is rescued. But she then gets kidnapped as well, along with Melody Valentine, who has been hypnotized by the Evil Eye. The rest of the gang pursue and enact a crazy rescue plan as music and chase scenes follow as they find out who's behind the Evil Eye.
Trivia[]
- New music is featured for the title card that will play for the rest of the series.
- It is presumed this episode takes place in North Africa or the Middle East.
- Though inspired by Scooby Doo Where Are You!, this is the only episode where the Pussy Cats actually unmask a villain.
- The plot is heavily influenced by the Anthony Hope book and 1937 film The Prisoner of Zenda. Much of the plot also borrows elements from an earlier Hanna-Barbera series, Arabian Knights, which aired as part of The Banana Splits Adventure Hour two years before this show aired.
- This is the only episode to feature Alexandra and her Cool-Time Cat, which demonstrates Alexandra's lack of musical talent.
