
Frederick "Tex" Avery (26 February 1908 – 26 August 1980) was an American animator, best known as a director at the animation unit of Warner Bros. until he had a falling out over his endings and also gags with Leon Schlesinger and moved to Paramount to work on the Speaking of Animals film series and later MGM. While at MGM, he created the character Southern Wolf, who would later inspire the character of Huckleberry Hound.
Shortly before his death, Avery created The Kwicky Koala Show for Hanna-Barbera.
