The Banana Splits in Hocus-Pocus Park is a 1972 telefilm produced by Hanna-Barbera for The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie. The beginning and ending are in live action, but the rest of the film is animated.

Summary[]

The Banana Splits are tour guides who offer to take a little girl, Susie, on a tour of the park. Susie spies a runaway balloon and tries to retrieve it. The balloon floats away into a billboard advertising an area of the park inhabited by Hocus and Pocus, a pair of magicians with special powers, and an evil witch. As Susie and the Splits enter the billboard, they become animated characters and encounter the witch. The witch captures Susie, and the Splits, with the help of Hocus and Pocus, must fight a mechanical knight to gain her freedom.

Voice cast[]

Goofs[]

When Bingo says, "You're the strongest," to Snorky, his face turns orange.

Trivia[]

  • Howard Morris and Don Messick take turns voicing Hocus and Pocus during the movie.
  • Don Messick voiced Drooper from the swordfish and alligator scene to the crossing the dragon and magic bridge scene. Melvin voices the rest of Drooper's lines after that.
  • Howard Morris did a few lines for Bingo: ("Ride on!" "Hurrah!" "That's better.")
  • Like most of Hanna-Barbera's shows during the 1970s, The Banana Splits in Hocus-Pocus Park contained a laugh track created by the studio, unlike the original series which had a full laugh track. Some airings and remastered prints on Boomerang however have the track muted.
