The Wee Greenie Goofie is the fourth episode of Cattanooga Cats. It first aired 27 September 1969 on ABC.
Summary[]
The Cats go to the home of Kitty Jo's Uncle Timothy, who has just returned from a trip to Ireland. He's in fright because a mischievous leprechaun named O'Malley has followed him home and is playing all sorts of tricks on him. Groove first dismisses this story as an Irish fairy tale until Kitty Jo tells him otherwise. As Uncle Timothy's telling the cats about O'Malley, suddenly he appears out of thin air and plays another trick on him, finally scaring Timothy away from the house. Country says if they catch the leprechaun, he will give them his pot of gold. O'Malley starts playing a number of tricks on them. With a can of gold spray paint, they fool O'Malley by first spray painting a balloon and then a pig, finally defeating him and earning the pot of gold.
However, once they find out that O'Malley can no longer return to Ireland now that his gold is gone, the Cats feel bad and return the pot to him. He is so happy he decides to go back to Ireland after all, and leaves on his magic rainbow. Relieved that his home will no longer be haunted, Uncle Timothy returns. However, he warns the Cats that if a leprechaun likes you, he might not return home right away and hang around you for a while. The Cats dismiss this because they saw O'Malley leave, but as they pull away, he's riding on top of Gashopper.
Trivia[]
